Deleting and recovering storage

When you delete a storage item, it is moved to trash for 96 hours. You can restore it during this window.

Restoring incurs Pay As You Go charges for the time it spent deleted. The cost is deducted from your project balance.

Recovering deleted storage

You can recover both Block Volumes and Shared Filesystems (SFS) from trash during the 96-hour window.

Open Deleted volumes

In the console, go to your storage types: Block volumes or Shared filesystems.

Restore the item

Expand the Deleted storage. Then click Restore from the actions menu of the volume you want to recover.

Reconnect it to your compute

Restoring brings the volume item back. It does not automatically reattach or remount it.

Permanently deleting storage

To free up storage quota, you must permanently delete the storage. In the console, go to Deleted volumes and click Permanently delete from the actions menu. Please note that this action cannot be undone.

You can also permanently delete a volume via APIarrow-up-right by passing is_permanent=true .
