Cloning duplicates a volume into a new volume. You start a clone from the volume settings menu in the console.
For a consistent clone, the volume must be detached. Or the attached instance must be fully shut down.
Clones can only be created in the same location. Example: a FIN-01 volume can only be cloned into FIN-01.
Cloning across locations in the console is coming soon. If you need it now, contact [email protected]envelope.
You can clone between NVMe and HDD. This is useful for archiving data to cheaper HDD storage.
